Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Founding Ophthalmologist , Veterinary Eye Center of Florida, Fort Lauderdale
Board-Certified or Boards-Eligible Founding Ophthalmologist – Veterinary Eye Center of Florida (Ft. Lauderdale)
Veterinary Eye Center (VEC) is seeking a board-certified or boards-eligible veterinary ophthalmologist to serve as the founding ophthalmologist for our new ophthalmology-only specialty practice in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Veterinary Eye Center is an established, ophthalmology-exclusive group with locations in New York City, Newton, MA, and Greenwich, CT. Since opening our first location in Manhattan in April 2021, we have built a strong referral-based practice centered on high-quality medicine, collaboration, and sustainability. This Fort Lauderdale expansion represents a unique opportunity for an ophthalmologist interested in clinical leadership, practice development, and long-term growth, while being fully supported by an experienced, multi-location specialty group.
As the founding ophthalmologist, you will play a central role in shaping the culture, clinical standards, and growth of the Fort Lauderdale hospital. You will work closely with leadership on equipment selection, workflow design, staffing, and referral outreach, while maintaining autonomy in day-to-day clinical practice. The practice will be fully equipped for comprehensive care. You will be supported by a dedicated practice manager, technical staff, and client service team.
At VEC, we prioritize a healthy work–life balance and a collaborative professional environment. The anticipated clinic schedule would be 4 days a week with no on-call responsibilities.
Fort Lauderdale offers an exceptional quality of life, with year-round warm weather, access to beaches and outdoor activities, and a vibrant cultural and dining scene. South Florida provides an outstanding environment to build both a professional practice and a long-term home.
We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, including health insurance, professional liability insurance, 401(k) with match, CE allowance, and paid vacation time. All licensing fees and professional dues are fully reimbursed. Signing and relocation bonuses are available. This role offers meaningful leadership involvement and long-term growth potential within an expanding specialty group.
