Position Summary
We are seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) with strong experience in anesthesia to join our founding team. This role is central to ensuring that our patients receive safe, skilled, and compassionate care throughout their diagnostic and surgical procedures. You will work side-by-side with our board-certified ophthalmologist, assisting with everything from complex eye surgeries to routine exams.
Responsibilities
• Administer and monitor anesthesia for surgical ophthalmic procedures (including cataract, corneal, and eyelid surgeries).
• Provide high-quality nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist with ophthalmic diagnostics (tonometry, cytology, imaging, etc.).
• Maintain accurate medical records and follow strict safety protocols.
• Support doctors during consultations, surgeries, and emergencies.
• Educate and communicate with pet owners to ensure excellent client service.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and supportive clinic environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Anesthesia: Induce, monitor, and recover patients for ophthalmic procedures (cataract/phaco, corneal grafts, eyelid/plastics, glaucoma procedures); maintain anesthesia logs and safety checklists.
• Diagnostics: Perform/assist with STT, fluorescein staining, tonometry, tear film tests, cytology preps, IOP checks, ocular ultrasound setup, ERG setup, and imaging.
• Surgical Support & Sterility: Prep patients, manage sterile fields, instrument handling, pack/wrap/sterilize, and maintain microscopes, phaco units, and monitoring equipment.
• Patient Care & Nursing: Pre-/post-op care, IV cath/fluids, pain scoring, medication administration, discharge instructions.
• Client Communication: Educate owners on medications, post-op care, and revisit schedules with clarity and empathy.
• Records & Workflow: Accurate medical records, charge capture, inventory checks, and helping keep a clean, organized, and calm clinic environment.
Qualifications
• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) in Florida (or eligible for transfer).
• Minimum 3+ years of veterinary clinical experience; ophthalmology or specialty preferred but not required. A working interview is part of the hiring process.
• Strong hands-on experience with anesthesia monitoring and patient safety.
• Excellent communication skills and team-oriented mindset.
