Seeking Ophthalmologist to Join Busy Hospital in Rochester, NY – Sign on bonus!

Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Services (VSES) has an opportunity for a full-time, board-certified ophthalmologist to join our growing team. We are a very busy practice and the only 24/7/365 emergency and specialty referral veterinary hospital in Rochester, NY serving over 1.2 million people and their pets.

Our ophthalmology service has been a busy service for more than 10 years. Currently, the service is supported by consultant ophthalmologists as our full-time ophthalmologist left the area at the end of 2017. Our existing patient load and referral base will support a full-time ophthalmology service.

Our newly renovated 28,000-square-foot facility is equipped with the latest in veterinary technology, including Kowa SL-17 slit lamps, a binocular indirect ophthalmoscope with an assortment of condensing lenses, Reichert tonopen, Retinal Graphics ERG, Zeiss operating microscope with an assistant’s head, I-Med phacoemulsification unit and Diovet diode laser with G-probes and a laser-indirect headset. We also have a dedicated ophthalmology operating room.  The hospital also has five comprehensive surgical suites, an in-house diagnostic lab, a state-of-the-art ICU, and a dedicated feline ward. A complementary medicine and rehabilitation service is scheduled to open in summer of 2019. We also have a dedicated continuing education center which hosts local DVM and LVT CE as well as training of house officers.

As a member of the VSES team, you will be working alongside our diverse and talented group including board-certified specialists in surgery, internal medicine, critical care, neurology, ophthalmology and radiology. Our emergency service consists of nine attending clinicians, six rotating interns and outstanding licensed veterinary technicians and assistants. Specialized interns in medicine and surgery as well as surgical residents are on-call to provide additional support to the emergency service as needed.

Our ideal candidate should have a desire for a collaborative approach to healthcare, strong communication skills, excellent work ethic, an ability to serve as a mentor and coach to interns, and a dedication to lifelong learning. Our organization’s core values of teamwork, quality, compassion, honesty, trust, and education contribute to our hospital culture of collaboration and camaraderie.
